Purpose and scope
Our tools turn a defined set of inputs into an estimate or mathematical result. They are designed for quick checks, planning and comparisons. A calculator cannot account for every contract term, personal circumstance, product rule or future change, so important decisions should also be checked against an authoritative source or qualified professional.
Formula selection
Pure conversion tools use established mathematical relationships, such as 1 inch equalling exactly 2.54 centimetres. Percentage and geometry tools use standard arithmetic formulas. Financial and property tools state the assumptions used and are tested with example values. Where a tool depends on tax bands, exchange rates or another changeable figure, the page should identify the period or source and explain when a manual value is required.
Inputs, validation and privacy
Fields are labelled with their expected unit. Where a value has a meaningful limit, the form applies a minimum or maximum and reports invalid entries rather than silently changing them. Generated calculator arithmetic runs in the visitor's browser. The figures entered into those tools are not posted to our server.
Precision and rounding
The underlying calculation generally keeps JavaScript's available numeric precision. Displayed answers are rounded to a sensible number of decimal places for readability. Money may be shown to two decimal places, counts may be rounded to whole items, and conversions may retain additional digits. For purchasing materials, the tool may deliberately round up where a fraction of a pack cannot be bought.
Testing and review
- Each generated calculator is tested to confirm its form renders and produces a finite result from its example values.
- Internal links, images and local assets are checked as part of every standalone build.
- Titles and descriptions are checked for uniqueness.
- Material corrections are applied to the source definition and the site is rebuilt so the change is consistent.
Health, money, tax and property
These topics can have significant consequences. Results are general estimates and do not replace medical, financial, tax, legal or lending advice. Rules and rates can change, eligibility may depend on facts a short form cannot capture, and a provider's calculation may use different assumptions.
